Seaweed Foraging in Sussex

Email: geoff@geoffdann.co.uk

These sessions are finished for this year (seaweed foraging is best done from late spring to late summer). I will be running more sessions next year, but will not be able to schedule the dates until detailed tide tables are available.

My Seaweed Foraging sessions take place in East Sussex (not far from Eastbourne), always during an extremely low tide. This is one of the best places in the UK for seaweed foraging (and by far the best in the south-east), due to a combination of the unusual geology and extremely large tidal ranges. I know of nowhere else that can boast such a wide variety of edible seaweeds. However, the extremely low tides that are best for seaweed foraging are always in the late afternoon or early evening, or early morning. We will mainly forage for seaweeds, with some attention also paid to coastal plants and shellfish,  and I will prepare a couple of seaweed dishes on the beach for people to try. The evening sessions will start around 6:30 to 7:00pm (dependent on the exact timing of the tide), morning sessions at 8:00 to 8:30am, lasting about two and a half hours. Maximum 15 places per event.

Payment is by BACS bank transfer, cheque or paypal, and there is a 5% discount on BACS payments (please email me for my bank details).
