Fungi foraging short breaks in West Wales

Phone 07964 569715

New for 2023! Come and stay with us on our beautiful 5 acre smallholding near New Quay in Ceredigion on the west coast of Wales. You’ll get to discover the wild food growing on our own land (which is actively managed to encourage fungi and all wildlife) and in the surrounding countryside, as well as have a 3 hour fungi foraging session in Brechfa Forest (a 40 minute drive away). I will cook up the edible fungi we find, though hopefully there will also be enough for you to take some home.

Accommodation is fairly basic — a double room with a lovely view, in our family home. You’ll be sharing our lounge, kitchen and bathroom (though there is also an outdoor loo). As well as my wife and myself, the household consists of our five year old daughter, a dog and a cat. Dogs are welcome, provided they are well behaved and good with other dogs. A cold breakfast is included in the price, a cooked breakfast is £5 extra. You can stay for one or two nights at a reduced (from our AirBnB) rate of £50 per night, and the price of my time will be £200 for a weekday or £300 for a weekend day. This accomodation is suitable for singles and couples — if you would like to arrange something for a larger party then there is no shortage of alternative options very nearby. Up to 6 people can come on the walk, already included in the price.

There are some beautiful local walks in wooded river valleys, a huge sandy beach at New Quay and first class restaurants on offer in Aberaeron, which is a 15 minute drive away.

The main fungi foraging season runs from September to November. Please contact me to discuss available dates. Scroll down for more pictures!
